Engine Upgrade? 2004
After suffering another bottom end bearing failure in my Honda engine I decided to try something a little different by installing a sled engine, the goal is to install without butchering up the Pilot, make it all bolt in so in the future if I wanted to go back to the Honda engine going back would be a bolt in affair and in a matter of hours I could swap back, so the whole conversion will be bolt in. The first step is to locate the Engine I made up a Aluminum bar with the stock center to center distance and using shims got the proper offset, this will help me maintain the proper center to center distances when locating the Engine, their will be no belt problems by getting this right, I also can keep using the same belts I have been using, the stock Honda belt and the belts from 4x4 Tuff for the Pilot. This is a rotary engine so if I use regular carbs the engine will need to be mounted high so the carbs can clear the transmission, having the engine mounted high makes the exhaust a difficult task because it is so close to the seat, with the engine up I can fabricate a fuel tank that will set below the engine.
