Like myself, there are newguys on and we get told to leak down test the
motor ((
Internal Combustion Engine ? )). For someone that had no one around this was a daunting task of building or buying one. It is a necessary tool in my opinion and as mentioned many times should be the first test before your tear down your motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )). I built mine from parts around the shop and borrowing a pump from my dad, research shows you can build this for about 40.00 depending on how much you have to buy. But for 40.00 you can build the complete unit. I pumped my motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) to about 8# and it held there for 30 minutes (still holding as I type this). I am going to guess that all is ok and I'll continue the build from here. Here are my pics, they include the following:
1. airshock hand pump with intigrated and quality gauge, has a shrader connection
2. barbed nozzle to shrader valve
3. various length of hose to connect it all
4. 2 hose clamps
The pump I used was from the local HD dealer, you don't have to use that one, it costs 39.99. I checked with the local cycle shops and they have them from 29-35 so the price is inline. The nice thing is the integrated preasure gauge that is in small increments and is supposed to be very accurate. It is used for pumping up air shocks. So it is a tidy and simple setup which I like.
