Is it normal for a belt to start falling apart so quickly? The belt is only a year old...

how much riding did you do in that year? Was the belt brand new? If you leave a new belt out in the elements they wont last long after installed. If you wrap it with plastic and put in the houre or rv until it needs to be used it will last longer.

I didn't ride a whole lot, maybe a total of 40 hours for the year.. The pilot has always been garaged...

Wow man that sucks. Should last longer then that. I would check your clutch faces for any damage from use. Westecbuilder here on the site had a problem like that and he found that one of his faces on his drive clutch has a small crack and kept grabbing the belt and shredding it a little at a time while he rode

I'll inspect both clutches.. Could it also be that the belt was cheaply made?
