Picked up a 1980's FL250 with a good
motor ((
Internal Combustion Engine ? )) for $650 this past weekend. Not sure of the year as of yet. The Engine has 128psi of compression which matches the manual spec of 9kg/cm^2. Looking into the exhaust manifold the piston and rings look new. Needs tires.
I am wondering if I should buy a jet kit to tune the carb to match the bassani pipe or if the stock 120 jet will be fine. What needle groove was the clip in for stock location?
I took the fuel tank out and recycled the gas. No gas was getting to the carb so I took the fuel pump apart, didn't find anything obvious. The carb was rebuilt by someone who didn't know what they were doing, the slide was half way up the carburetor bore because the throttle cable had been adjusted all the way out on the steering wheel. The needle had been set way high by sliding the c-clip 1/2" down the needle, it wasn't even in one of the grooves. Going to purchase a carb rebuild kit but wondering if I should buy some larger jets to match the bassani pipe.
