Hey all,

I bought an FL350 that came with a few boxes of parts.

The Engine it came with I tore down for inspection and found it had an original bore Honda Piston. I believe the Engine was a runner before the tear down but I have no proof.

The piston has a broken Ringland, it's clearly been run this way for some time due to the build up of carbon and oil.

The cylinder walls look great, I can hone them up and get new rings no problem.

Would you run this? I am a massive cheapskate especially with how high prices have gotten for new parts, and I don't really have much to lose. The missing Ringland is nowhere to be found, bottom end is not damaged.

That piston could be welded up and fixed --- I've done it and the piston is still running in the death machine Engine with that home made head.
But if that is an original ART piston then NO it can't be repaired because the art's have a tapered ring which means the ring lands are tapered. That's tough to replicate.
By the way if anyone has an ART piston then make sure you mark the rings with a marker to indicate which is the top side and which is the bottom side. The rings can only go in one way and not upside down.

It is an original ART piston.

I'll send it up your way if you want to experiment with it.

I'm going to do it right and get a new piston.

I will take a pass on that.
But thanks for the offer.
It would be difficult to get that taper correct.
