I've got crud on the center shaft of my drive clutch. What is best to clean it off with, and what, if anything should I lube it with after I get it cleaned up?

What kind of crud you sure the crud is not some sort of lubricant, you should call alain and ask him about maintenance on that clutch or ask the sled heads on a sled web page, I would have to assume that alain has a cat service manual that covers that clutch?

The bushing on the Power Bloc looks ot be a fiber material with graphite in it I would not want to wash it with a solvent...

Generally after talking to Alain, I feel more lost than before I talked to him. I think the crud is maybe from my earlier attemps to lube it. This is my spare drive clutch, that was sticking, so I replaced it with a new one with the adjustable cam arms. Last night I used some PB blaster to free it up, it now moves pretty well, I'll need to clean out the blaster. I'm not at all sure that this was intended to be lubed at all, or maybe silicone if anything??

Since you already attacked it with a solvent (PB Blaster) you might as well wash it with brake cleaner but blow it out right away so it wont attack anything, I think if I was going to lube it I would buy a can of Comet clutch lube since it is a dry lube and seems ot be pretty good stuff, next time you see Litespeed throw a can KEEP IT haha stuff is like 9 bux a can but well worth it, your local sled shops should have some in stock if not Randy at Odysseysalvage.com probably can get it.

You think your lube attracted sand and it bound up? Feel any sand in the goop?

FYI PB Blaster is not a lube they do make a lube tho...

I thought I had some lube, but can't find it. So you think the blaster will attack some of the parts? I'll take some brake cleaner and try to clean the whole mess up. At first I thought I might have some sand stuck in there, but it seems to be more like very fine dirt.

I still need to pull the driven clutch and clean it up also, I'm thinking I have the same problem there. I'll avoid the blaster if there is any chance it will foul things up. I only used it on the drive because it seemed totally stuck, and nothing I did seemed to free it up.
