Watched the Parker 250 today got here the day before spent the night so could claim my spot. Start of the race the sun just barley up RV furnace running trying to take off the chill look at the outside temp its 31 degrees not sure how they can ride in their bikes and quads with race gear at 40+mph in 31 degrees a few looked like they had rain suite on over the top another was wearing a winter coat stilll bet it was a cold ride, ton of bikes bunch of quads a few side by sides had to suck driving I parked on the South side of shea road at about mile marker 3.5 had the wash to my front and the Osborn wash observation area to my back so could see the traffic two times per lap. Had a big idea of setting on the roof in my lawn chair to watch the race lol too cold for me sat in the RV heat on in the front drivers seat, great view Most rode by WOT (Wide Open Throttle) ass off the seat was a few just slow ass on the seat all at a good safe finish the race pace no crazt out out of control stuff One side by side sounded like it had a R1 Engine or something sure was not OEM Seen the red helicopter fly by once looks like he was with the side by sides on the first lap Dust not bad from where I was setting slight breeze was in my favor once sun was up good during the second lap wind picked up a little more and did a pretty good job keeping the course clear of dust by second lap temps came up to 41 degrees in the shade also during the second lap a ambulance came racing down shea rd lights and horn on and stopped by the north side observation area not sure if someone was hurt or they were just staging a rider suffering from hypothermia would be easily believable after about 15 min ambulance left not sure if they took or treated anybody they left slow lights off No web or phone access where I was parked had to come to town to do laundry figured I would post. http://www.bitd.com/best-in-the-desert-races.html Want to stay and watch the Parker 425 FEBRUARY 1, 2, 3, 2013 |
