Any of the Illinois area members getting flooded?

A barge broke up East of Marseilles about where the Cliffs is only on the river, it floated down and is against the dam they are trying to pull it off, they evacuated 1/2 the town pretty much everything South of the railroad tracks to the river was evacuated.

Say it might flood in this area worse than in 2008 (worse flood ever here) they have not told us to evac hopefully wont.

Be nice if you mutts up stream of me could hold back some of that water for about 24 hrs :-) PLEASE!
At lease until they get this barge off the dam.

Can you imagine what will happen if the barge breaches the dam? By by Ottawa it will be destroyed.

I bet the barge thing will be on 10pm news.... I was in the park 100' away watching them try to pull one of the sections off the dam the tug had both engines WOT (Wide Open Throttle) and it was not moving, think suction from the water going over dam had it.

Well... Make sure to send me all your PO related passwords since you might die. Or build an Ark, put on it two Hondas of each kind, two wheeled things, and three wheeled things, and four wheeled things so they can re populate the trails

FOX news was flying over the hoser compound for about 15 min seen where the barges hit the dam live on TV they say was a total of 9 broke loose you can see 6 of them in the video.

Got a call last night about 10pm from a friend that said an official told him they expected the dam to break in about an hr, will at 9am its still holding fine

Here is suppose to be the video but I cant get it to play
http://www.myfoxchicago.com/story/22023 ... hits-levee

BARGE HIT DAM not a Levee after the barge hit they could no longer raise about 6 of the gates that control water flow and river level since they could not raise the gates and dump water the water level raised up higher than I have ever seen it in my life then the water started to flow over the LEVEE and flood the town.

River is suppose to crest tomorrow some time but they don't expect it to raise more than another foot.

hoser compound should be safe I can see the river in my neighbors yard about 500' away it would have to rise another 6-8' to affect me, river is about 3' from going over the top of the sea wall by the dam where the barge is against.

Friend of mines son just bought a house about a year ago that is right by the levee that the water is going over he was forced to evacuate last night I have no doubt he has a basement full and probably 2' in his house, time for him to fabricate a FEMA sign put on roof for news choppers... :-)

Just took a ride down to the river looks like most the barges have sunk in the past few hrs, seen 3 US coast guard getting ready to go out on the barge and river assume they want to see the damage and figure a way to get the barges off the dam before it breaks.

Another video http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?sectio ... id=9071655

I heard on the news that here in Peoria the river flood stage is 18 feet, and they say it is expected to reach 30 feet this Tuesday. The record is 28.9 feet. Water always wins, if you have any doubt - look at the Grand Canyon.

Just got off the phone with my buddy they wont let them back in the neighbor hood yet but I guess the water has dropped a little they found pictures on the web of the neighbor hood and can see his house was under water up to the gutters

Pumps and generators are at the ready for when water drops enough to go pump the basement, he is having a dumpster dropped off at his business Monday (get one while you can) then will move it to the house with his flatbed wrecker if needed once its dry and demo starts will have to gut entire home and start over if they don't condemn it.

So the barges lodged in the dam causing the gates to be unoperable and the river behind the dam backed up, oh man! I guess there was no other way to let water flow?? Boy someone is gonna get shitcanned over that. I hope everyone has good insurance. What a mess. A flood is as bad as a fire. When we lived in Edmond the creek behind our house flooded due to heavy rain, we had about 4"of water in our entire house, our puppies were swimming in the garaage. We were kids so we were swimming in our street, pretty sureal.

Its never flooded this neighbor hood before water went over the levee once the barges hit the dam it was blocking the water flow so it backed up and went over the levee, news keeps saying the levee broke it never did the water went over, I have yet to talk to a home owner in this neighbor hood that has flood insurance because it never floods, talked to a few who said they tried to get flood insurance before but could not because its "behind a levee" nobody will insure.

Their is many houses in this neighbor hood in a real low area that floods regularly, water in the basements but its from heavy rains and poor sump pump performance never goes over the levee and puts 4' water in the homes and 4' deep in the streets.

They removed one barge that was against the dam and the river dropped 1' in less than 1 hour.

Dam is damaged they are not even sure they can control the river once the barges are removed they cant close a bunch of them so the river might drain too low for barge traffic until they are repaired.

Here is proof the barges were blocking water flow and caused the flood.

Corps of Engineers official Andrew Barnes noted the stranded barges are providing a benefit by blocking some of the flow through the locks and thereby preventing the pool level from falling faster. Nonetheless, officials said they still want to remove the barges so they can inspect the dam, which is the priority.

See the building with the green roof that's where my buddy works at the cell phone company he is going back to work Monday I think, between the green roof and the bridge is the Middle East conflicts war memorial, don't think it received much damage mostly landscaping.

It was an ADM/ARTCO barge this time. Marseilles was an Ingram barge. I got to go on a tour of the big boat in this picture yesterday morning. What a nice piece of equipment. Twin Engine. 6000hp. You could've ate off the valve cover it was so clean. Wanted to see one the whole time I worked at ADM and was told I couldn't 100 times. "I wasn't certified". Now that I don't my old boss invited me to a tour on the big boat yesterday. Talked to Pete a couple hours ago. The small tug boat couldn't get it moved so they brought the big one down. They're so lucky it was still in the area. It was only here for the tour for ADM employee's.

Wonder what the excuse will be this time. Looks to me that the barge industry is out of control and is just begging for big government to get involved and to impose more regulations/inspections on the barge industry since they cant regulate themselves, Ingram barge company did 50-75 million dollars damage and only had like 1 million in insurance sticking the TAX PAYERS with the rest of the bill, this is not including the flooding of the town causing who knows how many millions in damage, you know as well as I do it will cost at least a million to inspect the dam for damages after they get the barges off the dam who is getting stuck paying that if the barge company does not have enough insurance....

How many thousands of years has barges been used now and they still cant control them in swift currents after having at least 5 DAYS notice that it was going to rain and create stronger than normal currents haha yeah these clowns are just begging for more regulation.

A million bucks would be getting off cheap. Time to come off some of those billions in profits. Hopefully it isn't nearly as bad as what happened in Marseilles. If it is at least it won't destroy part of a town like the last one did. That was a horrible deal.
