G'Day Guys, I'm Barry from Perth Western Australia. This is my first post (virgin) & have just received my first 89 Pilot from SoCal. I started with 250 then 350 and now Pilot, what a unique machine. Your forums, info, and Hosers tips have now replaced watching the idiot box. Big thanks to Frank and Tony for help in getting Pilot. Cheers Buggybaz.

Yup got your pics they were like 8 meg for the 3 pics no way you can upload pics that size here, imagine each person that tried to view the post would have to download 8 megs of pics...

You need to look at your camera settings the pics you sent was the size if you wanted to print out a poster or billboard, look for email size settings or web size pics.

Who was the former owner?

Check the air in the tires they all look over inflated you want 3-4 PSI

Front shocks look like they have too much spring preload but this is just looking at it, measure the height of the car then jump on the front bumper 4-5 times then slowly get off the bumper and measure the height again.

Next get in the car and strap in have your buddy measure the height one more time.

G'Day Hoser and Nuke, Had a great weekend at Seabird, took my Pilot and 350 ody. Here are some pics and video link of me in pilot and my mate Trev in ody fooling round in creek bed . I bought pilot from FrankoATV who i think bought from a stonefruit farmer who was racing it with 500 top end.

The 350 suspension looks trick how does it work?

Who made the suspension modifications, does it use the Honda axles?

Shocks are circa 70's Chrysler Valiant with dirt cover tubes ground off at weld line leaving end caps for coil retainer seat, driveshafts are Daihatsu G10 i think with final shaft inner welded on from ody shaft. Setup is preloaded by tightening up bolt welded onto chain pulling up bearing carrier vertically. Is about 4" wider than standard(rear track). Front is Holden Comorder shock bolted to bottom arm and top has welded cleat, works well and takes a lot of abuse. Very stable doing power slides and jumps. :-)

Post subject:  Correction on driveshafts

The driveshafts are from a Daihatsu L55 circa '82. This ody used to be raced in South Australia and was club champ Regards Buggybaz

Thanks for the info/pictures Bugeye59. Someone put the steering wheel in the wrong side of your truck? LOL

Did he lengthen the 350 frame or just reinforce it? I would really like to see some more pictures of the suspension and frame mods, if you don't mind. I have yet another 350 that I am going to build a custom rear suspension for and may use some of your 350s tricked out suspension ideas.

G'Day Garry, Frame is not lengthend but is reinforced. As soon as i get buggy off trailer i will take more pics for you, no probs, with wheels removed. also for your info i use a cycle computer called a Cateye (8 function) records Max speed, odo, dist trav, elaps time average speed etc. I just double sided taped the sensor probe and pick up on rim and has performed faultlessly for 3 yrs cost $40 Aus $30 US from local cycle shop Regards Baz
