SO how can we work out the Facebook and other sites that contain Pilot Odyssey data. Preserve the data responsibly but at the same time not offend offend and take away anything from the owners, I want to do this with respect and legally. Again my only goal is to archive. I do not want to draw traffic away from Facebook or others by any means, I do not want to step on any toes or take away from their traffic, fact is I want to promote people to continue doing what they are doing and users to continue to share info using what they feel most comfortable using.

My concerns are, if a member of another site is ban for what ever reason is their post left behind, say some one on Facebook (example only) created a few hundred post useful to the Pilot Odyssey community was ban from FB would those PO related post be gone forever? I know when your ban from Twitter AKA Twitter X everything related to your account is GONE, every keystroke, every link, every photo etc. REMOVED from public view and I assume from the servers.

My first thought was just to have members start linking to post on other sites, that would be the fastest and easiest way to share the PO info but like ALL users we hate dead links. Again I am thinking long term archives.

I know most websites you can take a page your viewing and save it as a PDF then archive the PDF for future use. Someone would have to check with each sites user agreement as to not get into trouble. I have in the past used Web-page Down-loader programs to download entire websites for offline viewing, like when I am in the desert with limited internet connection and need tech info I have it on my external hard drive, its just another tool in my tool box.

Your thoughts, suggestions?

I didn't even think about all that.
Like always, it's not as easy as everyone thinks.

See a video on YouTube you can comment something like. If you ever break down or questions check out PilotOdyssey.com/PO/
maybe add a hashtag #PilotOdyssey

I don’t think you can post a fb link and go directly to it if you don’t have an account. It will ask you to sign in or get an account. What I do for people is come here, find the info, copy the link and post it in the thread. Then it brings them here and hopefully the provided info gets them to spend some time here and get knowledge versus hearsay.

Great idea and thanks. Have you verified others are able to view the links you post on FB?

Yes, I will actually clink the link after I post just to make sure it is good to go.

As an active user of Facebook and admin/moderator of several pilot odyssey groups on facebook I do not feel that it is what you might think. 90% of the Facebook activity is people selling and buying parts. There are sooo many scammers trying to rip people off. Those are the people that get banned along with people that are ass holes towards other members. The other 10% is people looking for technical assistance. “What kind of oil do I use” type posts. Facebook doesn’t have a way to archive technical support and the search function sucks. There isn’t a way for people to document their projects. When real technical questions arise I will often direct people here or share a link to this site directly. I encourage users of the Facebook pages to create accounts here. Facebook isn’t capable of being a resource as this site is. People use more as a convenience as it is an all in one platform of your family members, friends, marketplace, hobby groups, etc, etc. I feel most people do not value site specific forums as they once did. Certainly not the next generation.

Some of the Facebook pages have 17000 members, many of which don’t even own a pilot/odyssey. They are on there because they are trying to sell their mini van. Just my 2 cents. I don’t know a way to archive useful facebook data to this site but if there are suggestions I am willing to try it with the pages I help manage.

-Curtis

If you create a Facebook informational column or thread here, I will do my best to share useful technical information that I see on Facebook to that thread.

I do not FB I started an account there when it first started to see what the excitement was about, soon after I was told I had to link my account to a phone number, I left never looked back.

Make sure the FB users tag their post with FL250 FL350 FL400 to narrow the searches. Honda only recycled the name Odyssey and Pilot the automotive market because they already owned the trademark and it saves time and money. This will not stop the auto market from migrating in.

I wish Honda would have used new names for the auto market but you can not blame them.
