Need some help. Just recently picked up a Pilot. I don’t think it makes a difference but it is a 1990. Looking at the pilot from the back end...the right rear axle where it goes into the transmission/differential...what I would call the axle seal is leaking. Not really bad. Like one or two drips overnight if you just rode it.

My local ATV/motorcycle shop says the parts are no longer available. He is going to do some more looking but just in case they come up dry...does anyone know where you could get the seals from or is there a aftermarket replacement?

Other than some cosmetic issues the Pilot runs strong and has never been apart and or messed with. Even my mechanic says it’s pretty nice. Usually the ones he runs across are beat. He said I got a decent/solid machine.

Thanks!

If you sure it’s not an axle boot, and it’s not dripping from the full or drain plugs, then you might need to buy a new seal online. I’ve heard it could be a disaster changing these out, the axle might be rusted into the final gear really bad after all these years. You might want to try just changing the oil first maybe with something good like redline mtf or heavy/lite weight shock proof. Don’t be too afraid to overfill either.

The 45x58x7 seal is listed on amazon as available. Search by size

Thanks for the replies. I did try a search at first and didn’t find anything. After playing on the site more I found more info. On the seals.

I did find a original seal and bought it.

It’s the seal for sure. My mechanic at the ATV shop that I’ve been going to for several years said the same thing.

When I took it in we also both found at the same time that the inner left cv boot had a pin hole in it. So that is getting replaced as well.

When I get it back from the shop in a week or so I’ll take a couple of pic’s and post them.

For one I always wanted a Pilot. My wife likes it a lot and so does our son. He just got his ATV license a few months ago. He’s been riding and driving atv’s now for a few years. First time he drove it and I followed him the whole time. We get back to the house and he looks at me and at the same time gives me a thumbs up and yells out, “I like it!” I have this funny feeling between the wife and the kid I’m not going to get to drive it as much as I think I’m going too!
