Trip was lots of fun. Did a good amount of riding. Went on a ride Friday night when Westecbuilder and I got there. He took the lead in his pilot, Kuma rode shotgun in the XP with me. Westecbuilder must have had a real bad case of dune fever, because he was ridin like he was angry at the dunes!
that's dam funny, Sometimes I think I I find myself saying "Take that sand" " and that and that and that"!!
One of the fastest night rides I have ever been on. Really fun. We had 3 roll overs for the weekend. Westecbuilder was first. He followed me over a razorback, but I guess he must have forgot to slow down. Wound up jumping the thing, nose-landed, and tumbled a few times. I will show you a pic of the spot he rolled. And of course, it was the tallest dune out there! He got lucky he didn't keep on rollin down the hill. Next, on another ride, was his son Alexander. He rolled his suzuki LT250 in pretty much the same scenario. Took the razorback too fast and jumped the quad. I actually got a little video of it since I decided to turn my camera backwards, although it is really a far distance he was behind me so it is hard to see the roll. He flew around 20 feet and had a good fall. He was alright, just a little sore. The next roll was Kuma, he was in the lead in his pilot and he kept hearing a loud clicking noise. He rounded a right turn and hit a kicker, and hit front wheel broke apart. The center section was still on the pilot, but the rest went rolling up a hill, then made a U-turn and came back down. Kuma did an endo-style roll, and his roll cage/fenders/whip never even touched the sand! Worst part about it was I didn't get it on video! He was able to drive the pilot most of the way back on 3 wheels and when we got close enough we went back to camp and got him another front to put on real quick. Below are the pics, I have tons of video to sift through, but will post them up with ready.
Also, on a side note, we discovered a way to pop a tire off the bead in order to clean sand out and seal the tire to the wheel. You just use the electric jack (if someone has one) on the front of a 5th wheel trailer or whatever trailer you have handy. Pics below will show you how.
I have rolled tha front tire of the RV to pop the beads, its wroks magnificently!
Ok dangit keep those video cameras rollin guys, no one wants to wreck but then again no one will NOT watch a train wreck either, Keepem rollin!
