For me and the crew that's 4,000 mile round trip. With my RV that would be about $800 in gas towing a bunch of machines and stinky dudes who are reluctant to take time off.

Can you post more information so that I can pass this on? As in how long are you staying for? What are conditions? Sand dunes only, trails, tracks etc? I've never been out there. Any registration required for out-of-state? Other rules like flags and lights etc?

Glamis is all sand Dunes, there are some trails and if you come this far and want to hit some other desert Ocatilo is not far, but your at Glamis so why.
I'm just doing the long weekend Thursday thru Sunday, if you have company then stay longer. if your state has registration on machines then California is ok with that if not then you are supposed to have out of state sticker, not sure how much that is, honestly I have not been checked since about year 2k, but that would be your call. you need a camp permit, that is $35 for the week, buy it off site it's $50 if you buy it in the dunes, never understood that. expect nice weather, I'd look for something in the 80s, wind is always a possibility, when it blows hard it can be dangerous to ride because you can't tell where the dot of the dune ends, I can't recall wind blowing out an entire weekend.
flags are required, supposed to be 8' off the ground and red or orange but if black you won't be ticketed, tail light and head light are required for night riding.

side note, expecting another Dave-Co pilot there too.

That sounds interesting. I'll try to tempt my crew a bit. BTW if I go then +1 Dave-Co Rotax 600 to the list. It would be a hoot to try/test out other Dave-Co pilots actually. How many did he even make I wonder? 3 in one place would be rare.
