My three way valve on my gas tank broke. I hear somewhere that there is a plastic T w/metering jet that can be used instead? Does anyone have a part number or no where I can find one?

Thanks!

that's all there is, is HONDA. Unless I missed the boat someplace. More details about what you heard please.

found this in a post:

From Ody salvage website.

HONDA 3 Way Check Valve (in gas line) You do NOT WANT THIS!! Don't buy new ones from Honda. Honda left a spring out of it and it DOES NOT WORK RIGHT!!! Solution Listed on next line Below!

PLASTIC T W/ METERING JET replaces Honda 3 Way PRESSURE Valve (keeps 1/2 pound pressure on carb, so not to run fuel bowl dry)

Nuke Em devised a simple little fix for this.... Just use a normal fuel "T" and the at the return just before the gas tank, install a 190 main fuel jet.

Here is a quote from him.....

"What my fix is to replace the Honda tee fitting with just any normal tee fitting. Next, put something somewhat restrictive in the return line(between the tee and the top of the tank). I use a very large main jet(190). That will force some fuel down to the carb. I also added an automotive clear glass filter to all my 350s between the tee and the carb so I can physically see fuel being pumped to the carb(great troubleshooting aid at a glance). "

Dissregaurd odyssey salvage claim. There was never a spring installed in the old original ones i have been using the new ones for years now with no issues they work like they should.

Does the plastic t with metering jet work? It seems like a much cheaper option?

Just went and checked my three way valve (still factory original ) and it does have a spring in it .i stuck a small gauge wire in one of the outlets and you can feel the spring pressure against the valve
I cant see how it could work if it didnt have one otherwise it would be continuosly bleeding back to the tank ,
From what ive worked out is that it only works when the Engine is at idle speed the fuel bowl is full so fuel is bypassed through the valve back into tank to lessen the risk of flooding ,and at high rpm the valve is closed to lessen the risk of leaning off and holeing a piston
This is of course all irrelevant if the rest of your fuel system is not set up properly
Eg.. Float level and condition of float valve, fuel pump ,fuel pump pulse line etc...
Hope this helps
Ps i have also tried the 190 maint jet mod in the fuel return line and that also works
Maybe hoser can add to this he's probably had more to do with this issue than most of us
What do you think hoser

I read somewhere that a bad batch of the Honda valves had been made, but those have since been replaced. Haven't had any trouble with the two new ones I bought a few months back.
