Ooh, nice and clean.

I'd still be worried that the skirts gonna fall apart like a Democrat at an Obama rally.

I'm a little biased though.....

Looks very professional Curtis. Like mentioned previously, you may want to "balance" it by removing an equal amount from the other side, somewhere that will not mess up port timing and aircharge transfers. I have had to learn that lesson the hard way with the YZ490 piston in the 420/350. It will give much longer Engine life especially at higher RPMs.

that's funny Ody_Stable!

Do this with both the new and old piston, put the piston on the rod with the bearing and wrist pin, no rings, slide the cylinder on, no need to bolt it down, hold the cylinder down with one hand and turn the crank until the piston is at top dead center, look closely into the exhaust port and see if the bottom of the skirt is uncovering any of the exhaust port where you would have a path into the crank case, use a bright flash light if you have to..

not much done tonight i have to run down some bolt for the ring the holds the cylinder in the CNC to be bored. after it is bored to where the piston just fits we will the torque hone to the correct clearence.

also i was told (just repeating)that this is only one piston and goes up and down not around and around and does not need to be balanced.

Thanks for the info and sharing the pics. I do have a question. Where the gloves. I wish I lived closer to be there for a hands on view of work. Nice tool to. Does this mean you will need a bigger carb and a second pepsi bottle. Please keep sharing info. I,am really interested in the process.

i am not sure what you mean
"where the gloves"

we will finish the cylinder this coming week and start putting it back together.
i would like a 38mm flatside but out of range for now. we will look into boring the 36mm carb maybe get a
mm or mm and 1/2 not sure yet. i may go for a new diet pepsi bottle but i don't think i will need two haha.

we will be adding a lighting coil - but right now i am not sure if the system is 6v or 12v points.

more to come.

I think "where the gloves" is an insider that I was never privy to.

i tried to PM Lee with these questions - i hope he gets the PM

but here is what i asked

i have a couple of question that i hope you can shed some light on.

this has to do with fl250 electrical system points

how can you visually tell the difference between a 6v and 12v stator and windings?

is there/what is the difference between a 77-79 coil and a 80 coil.

would a 77-79 coil work with a 12v stator?

is there/what is the difference between a 77-79 flywheel and a 80 flywheel?

would the 77-79 flywheel with a 12v stator?

what is want to do is find out if i have a 6v or 12v stator and if a 6v how easy would it be to change.

thanks for your time

OMO

well the major cylinder boost porting is done - will need to clean up the edges and smooth out the flow area. then we will clean up the exhaust bridge and relieve it somemore because the old piston showed it needs it. hone - clean up the other ports and exhaust area.

then it will be time to put it back together and see if any of this did any good :)

Ok , comming out of my daze. What other changes did you make with it. Alter head and exhaut as well. Change carb. For some reason I see 3cc in the head mill 1mm ( depending on squish #,s)and 1.5mm higer and .5 mm wider on exhaust( bridge relief only, no other material removed)outer edges. I also see need for intake area increase and transfer matchng. You cotta throw some #,s my way, PLease. Ok took a couple of asparin all better now. Pretty cool there Curtis. You must like star track. " go where no man has gone before". Keep up the cool stuff.

Looks great OMO. I look foward to hearing your "seat of the pants" impression once you get it all back together and running.
