Triple EEE Desert Star I - $3800

440 Cuyuna Ultralight 2 cylinder, 2 stroke Engine, Comet FNR, Comet clutches, reinforced Douglas Red Label wheels, Suspension seat, 4 point harness, wheel mounted GPS, all controls on wheel, full fiberglass body, true hydraulic POWER STEERING (very, very cool), front whip mount, ready to use, great shape. New from Maxxis tires. Rears great. New battery this summer. No foot controls - it fits a variety of drivers from small to tall... Driver in the picture is 6'-4" tall.

Triple EEE really made this suspension geometry simple but they really got it right. This buggy handles extremely well. Lots of fun in dunes, desert, or ATV/UTV trails. Parts, if ever needed, for the Cuyuna and Comet are very readily available online.

Located in South-Central, PA (17236) but we travel so delivery or meetup may be somewhat possible. We are about 1-1/2 hours from Wash DC, Baltimore, Harrisburg. About 3 hours from Pittsburgh. About 3.5 hours from NY or NJ.

Call or text John at 717-729-4138

Thanks Bull! I wanted this thing so bad before I got it and I still actually want it. I really love this one. I read and read everything I could find about Ed and Triple EEE Enterprises. I had lusted after their cars since the days of DirtWheels and the Micky Thompson races, desert races, etc. and I wanted the real thing. I simply just don't have any more room. I have buggy storage spilling from the work shop to the house garage now and the wife is getting a new car now that must go inside. So it's time to sell something off but it's so hard to pick one to sell. This one hasn't seen quite as much use since I got the Rzr and the Drakart so, hard as it is for me, this one will leave the stable with a new owner very soon.

This is the only ad I have placed so far and many THANKS to Hoser for the forum and the opportunity to reach like-minded folks that appreciate these cars. The price $3800 is $1000 less than I have in it and represents a very good deal for someone here. I am motivated to sell and, although I wont give it away, I will listen to any close offer if it is in person, cash in hand, and ready to shake and go.

Thanks!!

I was playing with the idea of nets and an aluminum roof for more of that "racing to Le Paz" look.

That thing is bad azzzzz.....

If I had more room, a bigger trailer, a more powerful truck to pull the bigger trailer, more time to ride, and, well you get the picture.

Good luck with the sale, that does look like an awesome buggy!

Thank you Lonerider! I can sure understand all you have mentioned. When I bought this one, I had traveled all around looking at this and 3 others that were for sale at the time, all out west. The others were priced higher and were also in poor condition by comparison. So, I will brag a little and agree with you, this one remains in awesome condition.

Ive been asked these questions by text message this morning so I thought I'd post the answers here too.... This Engine is original to the buggy. I once replaced the little rubber bellows in the fuel pumps. And I also put plugs, fuel lines, and a battery on it last summer just as preventive maintenance. I also have some extra fuel pump bellows and some other various parts that will convey to new owner. The Cuyuna engines were used in several successive years of Scorpion Snowmobiles and also a few different types of single seat Ultralight aircraft. This one is electric start with a pull start backup. The controls that are typically on the steering yoke of an Odyssey/Pilot, are mounted to a special mounting plate on the drivers left side (lights, ignition, starter button, etc). I've owned many odysseys, pilots, drakarts, etc. with CVT and, although I have never raced or abused it, the clutch on this setup seems tuned just right to me... it starts to move without excessive rpm's and stays within the Engine's power band right up to the full speed curve. Reverse works great and it has the same drive belt that was on it when I bought it.

Thanks all!

I really don't know. I did have a link to a website that had the original literature and a magazine article on these from the 1990's. I think it was linked from the G2-Innovations (?) website? But my link is now a dead end and the wayback machine didn't show anything helpful. I'd be happy to measure if you or anyone requires... just tell me what to measure.

It is a Comet transaxle. There were apparently two types. Per Ed, the basic Comet which was prone to gear breakage (this may be the one that shouba is referring to) and the ones he put in these cars which had some beefed up internals. Comet transaxle is now owned by QDS. If anyone has any questions about these transaxles I'd recommend you contact Roy Navarrete of Quality Drive Systems at 626-293-5770. He knows these units very well and still repairs and sells many of the parts if you ever need. I don't know, however, if the HD internals were Comet parts or something that Ed had machined himself. I also have the service manual for the box which will convey to the new owner. I didn't get a good pic of it but this pic I nabbed from the net looks like the same one I have. I've changed the oil a few times since I have owned it and it's been trouble free.

Looks like my old Triple EEE! I can tell by the power steering reservoir attached to the C pillar back there. I sold it to a guy in WV. Is it still down there in that area? Hope it serves you well. Those are great buggies.. lots of fun.

The original builder isn't in the business any longer but that buggy is a very simple creature. Post up what parts you are needing and maybe someone here can help out.

Looking good. Very nice. I was so happy that fiberglass was in such good shape when I had it. Was very high quality. Your paintwork made it even better... cool.

PM me if you ever want to meet up for a ride somewhere. Limited choices and too many No Trespassing signs in PA. but we will find something.
