The other bug I picked up in Denver has been a great little gas saver getting about 27 mpg hot rodding it pretty good around town and on the hwy. The other day I took it for a ride and noticed the clutch needed adjusted so I adjusted the cable and noticed it don't have much adjustment left, time to check the clutch.... The kid (primary driver of the car) pulled the Engine today here are some pics.

The car came with a spare Engine that also had a clutch I had the kid take it off and the clutch disc is the same thickness .320 I wonder if I am missing something the 2nd pressure plate came with a collar on the fingers of the pressure plate. I put them on the lapping plate they both look higher on the outside than the inside.

Hoser, I bumped in to some information on extended rear arms. The point that was new to me was the application of stock VW axles from other vehicles to over size arms. This is definitely the cheap way to do things. This site is full of interesting VW info, a must read for slaking at work. http://www.blindchickenracing.com/How_t ... ension.htm |

Now that its back together it plain to see the whole problem was the Engine bolts were lose, they are all tight now and will be checked at every oil change... |

Well the Engine is back out again, the son said the mpg was down a little so he brought it in the shop to run through the tune up checks part of which is reading the spark plugs, the rear plug on the passenger side turned HARD all the way out, when he brought it to me it still had some threads on the plug, told him "go pull the Engine" we need to remove the head to repair, so now the Engine is out !

The VW I got in Denver came with a spare Engine so the kid is removing the heads off that Engine so we can use one, they are oily in the combustion chamber, I don't know anything about this Engine the owner might have squirted oil in the cylinders to keep it from rusting or it was burning alot of oil at any rate this Engine now slightly apart will go no the bench for complete disassembly, cleaning, inspection and rebuild, the car not only came with a spare Engine but a complete Engine rebuild kit, crank, bearings, cylinders, pistons, rods, gaskets, seals etc. Both engines are 1600cc dual ports.
