good Idea, maybe soak them and install and let dry.

on a different topic, this is just my opinion, I see you are using a K&N type filter, I'm not a fan, I've had sand go right on through those, if your out in front all the time you may get away with it for a while but if you use them I would suggest getting a UNI foam sock to go around it and uses some of the sticky foam filter oil, I use FFT, I believe it is a maxima product. I also use filter skins over the UNI and oil that up with K&N oil.

Yes I have been trying to think of a way to do just that. Dye them while on the metal frame. The dye that I used you had to boil so that would be a non option. Maybe a different dye? I'll figure something out. I was thinking about race car window nets or something like that.

Kuma, I have the K&N filter, then a outerwears prefilter, then a uni foam with the sticky oil. I will be sure to clean them regularly. If dust is still making it past I will have to make a new air box. I have been looking at the UTV ones and my be able to adapt one of them.

I run a uni and coat the intake tube with a bit of grease. Maybe it’s overkill but the alternative is more down time. The track can get quite dusty.

These are both done. I have ridden them both but, I still have not finished the head nets..... it is on the to-do list. The LT build is stupid fast, faster than my pilot, though I have not raced them yet.

I have a set of works shocks w/res being rebuilt right now for my OEM front end FL350. It should ride much better after I get them installed. The stock shocks just don't cut it, especially after driving the LT front end.

I need to get one of those go-pro type cameras to start documenting rides. As soon as these ponds freeze over good I'm going to pull out the LT, put my studded tires on it, and rejet the carb. I may revisit it in the spring and add a thermostat as it does run rather cold already so not sure what it will do with freezing temps. I will probably block half the radiator with cardboard for now if needed.

Had the wife out on #47, all smiles. She used to rip my first FL350 back in 2008 while I rode my dirtbike. Now I just need to fab up a sidecar for the baby.... LOL.... just kidding :-)

Just read the whole thread. Awesome job! I found your fox 2.0 mounting kit on ebay, thanks for taking the time to figure that out for us. I'm currently building a very similar ody to your LT build. Good idea with the shock saver limit chains too. What exhaust is that? I may have to start a thread on this forum too, wish I found it sooner.

Thanks bud! :-) I am using a Bills Pipe. They are pretty hard to come by and was lucky to get my hands on this one.

You should absolutely start a build thread. This is the first forum I ever joined and it was a way for me to document my hard work and struggles with rebuilding my machines. It has turned into way more than that at this point. I consider many of the members here my friends, even though we have never met in person. That old saying "Two heads are better than One".... many great minds here and all willing to help.

Haven’t posted on this in awhile. Got bead lock wheels installed on both of these machines now. After I blew out the rim on the #47 I wanted something stronger for both of them. On the #13 I am using the aftersh0ck mort0rsport conversion hubs to 4/110 w/ITP beadlock and on the #47 I am using an old set of OMF that I refurbished. I think I am going to powder coat the #13 to match, I love the look of the gold/red w/gold hardware. :-)

Thanks Terry! :-) they do look pretty killer on there. I love the 80’s MX color schemes.

I would eventually like to do the front wheels as well. Might send them out to OMF to be converted like ZeroClient has done with his.

I like the bead locks. Can you provide a little more info since you changed hubs.
New rims, brand?
Bead lock kit from MFG?
Did you use stock rims?

I have never done them and would like to know more about them.

I agree that the rings will work just as good to strengthen the wheel. Many beadlocks have the ring on the inside of the wheel as well and makes them very strong.

I had purchased a set of aftermarket hubs second hand that changed my bolt pattern to 4/110. This allowed me to mount a pair of ITP beadlock wheels. The 4/110 bolt patter is more common than FL350 stock hub of 4x130. The sliver ones pictured above.

The red and gold ones pictured above are also aftermarket but they have the stock hub 4/130 bolt pattern.. They are made my a company call OMF. This is an older set that I also bought second hand, I refinished them myself. They do sell new beadlock wheels and can also convert Douglas wheels to a beadlock as a service.

on the subject of bead locks, I for one am in favor for a couple of reasons, strength, also you can run lower air pressure with less chance of blowing a bead or spinning a tire on the rim. with lower pressure you can adjust your traction but it is also good for some suspension travel, that said one time out at Dumont ripping around I did blow the bead off of the inside front tire, really hooking those turns :-)

That makes sense with the lower tire pressure. I never gave it much thought, I haven’t had the need to do that yet. I bet it makes a big difference in the sand.
