THIS IS ONE OF TWO FL 350 ODYSSEYS THAT I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET MY HANDS ON ONLY A COUPLE HOURS FROM WHERE I LIVE AS THEY ARE QUITE RARE IN CANADA, THIS ONE HAS DONE ITS TIME AND IS MAJOR NEED OF A REBUILD, SEAT, CAGE, SUSPENSION, AXLES, FOOT TUB ALL WENT IN THE SCRAP BARREL, WHAT WAS STILL GOOD WAS STEERING YOKE, MASTER CYL, TRANS, FEW Engine PARTS, REAR CALIPER AND LOWER FRAME WHICH IS STILL NICE AND STRAIGHT WITH NO DAMAGE EXCEPT FOR ONE SMALL DENT I FOUND, FRAME IS NOW COMPLETLY STRIPPED, JUST NEED TO CAREFULLY CUTOFF THE NERF BARS AND WELD IN THE NEW REAR SUSPENSION MOUNTS AND CUT OFF A FEW THINGS IN THE WAY FOR THE ROTAX AND FRONT SUSPENSION AND THEN ITS OFF TO SANDBLAST AND POWDERCOAT

You tossed the axles and the seat? Hate to see that happen. I bet Canadian Odyssey would take them. He has a couple FL350 and can always use parts. He is awesome at rebuilding worn out parts. Looking forward to seeing our build. |

F me that thing looks like it would tip over if it even hit so much as a pinecone on the trail. It doesn't look like it was ever rolled though. Top cage looks straight. |

Well this is a first, im usually pulling apart sleds, but this time it was a golf cart, there was a 1998 mxz 670 Engine hidden in there, all stock never been opened, just the way I like them.

Just for reference for the guys that are doing a conversion with a 670, if you have a used running Engine, you still need to tear it apart and check it out inside, 99 percent of all 670 engines that I take apart are like the one in the pic, the crank spins inside the bearings, sometimes it is just one bearing but I have seen up to three, I believe that the crankshafts are improperly aligned (tolerance for runout is to high) from the factory. I metalize and machine the bearing seats before reassembling the crank but you can buy just the sections of the crank that need to be replaced. If you want to buy a used Engine and don't want to rebuild it you are better off buying a 583 or smaller Engine, it is quite rare to find crank damage on these other than normal wear

Does that also apply to the 617? I've herd it uses the same bottom end. |

The 617 and 670 don't share the same bottom end, the 617 has more in common with the 583 than the 670, the 617 crank uses all the same bearings and rods as the 583, the 617 is basically a stroked 583, you cant put a 617 crank in a 583 base though, 617 cranks are usually good as in the crank hasent spun inside the bearings |

What process do you use to metalize the crank? Could you post pictures? |

So everyone is talking about the crank on this 670 and no one thinks it's odd that it's in a golf cart? That thing has death trap written all over it! Probably did some great hole shots though. |

Probably did some great hole shots though. Not odd at all! That's a weekend, couple 24-packs-o-Bud, and a couple buddies' worth of work, lol. And I bet that golf cart had PLENTY of "here, hold me beer" moments. Great info on the 670, 'Manny. I've actually never bought a used snowmobile that didn't require some kind of overhaul. But then again...I'm cheap and I don't buy very expensive sleds. People generally don't sell perfect proper running toys for cheap. |

Wow I cant believe its already been almost two years since I started this thread, things got out of control, lead times went through the roof, so I stopped making parts for about a year and took a day job as a cnc machininst. Im back making parts full time again I just cant seem to stay away from these buggies. Note to parents, buy your kids what they want so they don't spend their adulthood chasing what they wanted as a kid. One of my neighbours had a crashed fl350 sitting behind his garage for years when I was a kid and would sneak over and sit in it. I did try and track it down when I got older but wasent able to.

This is the ody from the pic with the poorly installed Polaris sled Engine, I did the frame mod, installed the new mounts for the 3 link rear suspension, and stretched it 3 inches. This ody looked really straight when it was assembled but when I took it apart the front end was way out, must have taken a major hit at some point, wasent going to stretch it but fiqured might as well seeing I had to straighten it. |

While I was working as a machinist I was building my pilot suspensions on the side, I made a complete custom front end that didn't use any stock components, was going to do the same for the rear but ended up using the stock rear knuckle and cv joints.

Do you sell the power steering mount? I know in the picture it is on a fl350. Did you make one for the fl400 or are they the same? ***correction*** I see it is for a FL400 - The title is FL350 so I thought that's what it was. If you ever do offer the power steering bracket for sale let me know. That suspension kit sure looks like a nice setup.
