Stoneman had a computer needing a new fan and his kids wanted tehre PS2 fixed.

Sometime last week they showed up.

Laptop fan is in the mail. Ended up being a real easy fix.
Fan is all gummed up and Toshiba made it easy to replace.

While I had it under the scope I noticed its a Wifi Ready Laptop.
Which means it already has a Mini PCI socket for the radio and antennas prewired. This is a easy upgrade as well. The radio will pop right in like a memory chip.

The PS2...... No power dead after dropping off a table top or something.
This was a hard puppy to get apart. Immediately I see damage for the inside mount for the memory socket. But not bad enough to worry about and I left it that way.

However I noticed a flat ribbon cable / flexible PCB not sitting in its socket straight. Low and behold its the wires for the ower and eject. ;) Another easy fix and this one only took time no parts.

If I had a controller and a game he'd probably not get it back any time soon. hehehe But, I tested it with a DVD and it played well.

Just need to get this replacement fan and we're mission accomplished.

File comment: CPU FAN socket. Just need a tiny philips head screw driver to gain access.

File comment: The Mini PCI socket for teh WiFi Radio. They tape the antenna lines down. Just peel off the tape, connect the antennas to the radio card and pop it in like a memory chip.

File comment: The memory module socket in the PS2 cracked mount lower right.

File comment: this needs to be in the socket perfectly perpendicular. They are delicate. But no tools required only small fingers and even steady pressure.

File comment: these switches were not connected since the cable had popped out. And they are the power and eject. Crucial to work for hours of gaming fun. ;)

File comment: It worked when it left the shop....... Must be a new problem.... ;) Ever heard that before......
