Hi guys, I had hoser change my nick from mike25 to sunblock.

Picked this up for $500 bucks, I really wanted an 85-86, but for the price I think this will be plenty of fun. It needs a lot of little things, but mechanically the Engine is in good shape with a rebuild not too long ago. Has good compression, I have not tested it with a comp tester yet, but feels to be around 130 or so. starts on 1st kick.

Problems :

crack in frame, near front Engine mount, small crack on bottom of frame, both look like easy repairs with the right welding skills. needs a rear caliper, current one had a broken bleed valve that someone tried to drill out. front master cylinder has a slow leak. front forks need to be rebuilt, missing rear tail light, kill switch is loose, it will slide out of the run position easily. I hacked a temp repair for the switch, but it seems to be missing the spring that locks it in place when in the run position. Gas tank has dents in the sides.

Those tires are sick and I want some for my 200x! haha nice find man. Most of those parts can be snagged off evilbay pretty easily I think. Theres a tank and tail light on evilbay right now;

Nice score I am sure you will like, get any spare parts with it?

Evilbay has a nice steady stream of spare parts so keep your eye out.

I would remove that gas tank and flush it until you cant smell any gas in it then drop a fire cracker inside I bet it will pop the dents right out like the auto dent man does, you might try the dry ice thing first

You will like the 250R they are a great wheelie machine, you going to use it for trails or wide open spaces?

Looks like it has a aftermarket pipe IMO the stock pipe is the best for everything but wide open spaces...

Details pics of the frame cracks? I cracked my frame years ago while racing I was clearing the table top on the MX track it was the easiest way to pass :-) others were rolling over it.

Lid off the air box or on, try it with it off...

You join here yet ? http://www.3wheelerworldforums.com/
Great site some guys here are members their too, Nukem, Mudbogger, Odystable and I think FL670, who I missing?
First thing I did when I joined that site was head to the User CP and change the theme to something that was not so dark hehe

Keep us updated on your project, I need to do some work to mine, I picked up a cylinder on evilbay dirt cheap so I want to try some ideas on it, a little hoserization to enhance bottom end and mid range but no increases in compression, I have gained a little weight since I bought mine new

I also snagged a bottom end dirt cheap I need to restore and shelf for a spare, it needs a new rod for sure..

Nice score for you-I have a 85 250r,86 250r, 2 350x's currently with the 350x's needing some restoration work in the future they arent ridden currently
Ebay has tons of parts for your ride but log in to the 3 wheeler board they will help you in leaps and bounds with parts too, alot cheaper than Ebay-I just bought 1 titlewd frame.front brake system complete for my 250r for 50 bucks shipped off there that's cheap!!!

Thanks for all the input, I have registered over at threewheelerworld last week, been doing lots of research but no posting yet. I will have to try the dry ice thing on the tank, the dents are very mild and just seem to be from knee pressure.

The tires are ohtsu 220/460 - 9. The tread is rock hard and they hook up real well. I can catch a wheel on it in 1st very easily. I have not driven it much as I do not want to worsen the frames cracked areas.

I got a rear master cylinder and hosing, and a seat that has been poorly recovered. The extra seat's plastic is in good shape though and would be nice if recovered properly.

I will try and get a pic of the cracked areas. I think I will have to pull the Engine out to get it fixed properly.

after removing the skid plate the crack in the bottom looks a bit worse, but it looks weldable to me.
