Well a friend of mine and nuke em's picked up a fl250 for $150 which i thought wasn't a bad deal, was told it was started with starting fluid (Yes i know
) and we decided to tear down the
Engine today... Not terrible... The bore looks clean to me, but the piston has chipped. Before the tear down, we did a compression test of about 90. So that's what leads me to believe the bore is clean, but it also had a broken ring. The bottom end looked clean to me, very very minimal play in the crank, can't find any metal in the bottom end. The dome of the head is pretty dinged and pitted. The ody was rolled and it looks fairly rough, but i think it wasn't a bad deal, it was complete minus fenders. Has a nasty rattle can pain job on it that was pretty dirty. Overall, i still think we did good. I believe the piston is a 75mm? can't remember now. Do they still make art size pistons for these? Does anyone think we can just hone and put a new piston in and run it? it did have a compression of 90 with a broken ring and the piston chip... Thanks for the opinions, the owner of the machine should be registering here soon to read and learn.
