(Colorado for those not in the West).

Unmolested. Friend bought it in Salt Lake for me, delivered it to me this weekend and we (including my wife) rode the heck out of it on the public lands behind my house. Huge fan.

Long time 2-stroke owner (RD350s, old Vespas and Lambrettas, currently have a 1983 CR480, 1985 CR125R, 1989 Suzuki RMX250 and a 1969 Lambretta ld).

This thing is a blast. Unmolested, doesn't appear to have ever been apart. Glad to join the forum and learn more.

Welcome to the group and what a beautiful Pilot you have there. Nice score!

This forum is loaded with great info. Just ask if the search function doesn't get you there.

Thanks.

I saw the link to the 250 and 350 manuals, does such a free beast exist for the Pilot?

Three questions, since I'm brand new to these things:

1: I'm assuming the 20:1 ratio is way off given modern 2 stroke oils (I use a mix from Royal Purple to mineral to Castor to etc, etc, etc). What's a more correct ratio? I run 32:1 on my 83 CR480 air cooled and my 89 250 liquid cooled.

2: I can get ethanol free but it's 89 octane? Is that better or worse than the 91 octane that has corn in in?

3: Is there anything I must do to ride it reliably? Meaning are there any changes that people have learned should be done right from the beginning? I saw something about adding more than enough transmission oil? Anything else? I run evans waterless coolant in my other old Honda 2 strokes because of the magnesium covers that got ate to hell, is normal anti-freeze kosher?

As you assume, most guys run 32:1.

I'm not sure on the fuel question, pick your poison.

Keep using the waterless coolant, I like it better also. I would suggest keeping it as stock and original. You can modify the air box with a second snorkel tube. It is said that the original design choked the Engine a bit. Also, an aftermarket head is a nice upgrade to help with reliability.
