Two things:

1. I want to introduce myself to the members of this site (although I have been here a few months). I'm a 26 year old entreprenure from Reading, PA. I own a publishing company, a magazine distribution company and as of March 1st 2005 a Mortgage company. I just got my first pilot, I've wanted one since I was 15 years old and had a 79? ody. My wife told me when we got married that I couldn't waste our money on toys. So I started 3 years ago with a Blaster that one of my tennants gave me because he couldn't pay his rent one month. Since Then I've been doing even up trades for more than 10 differant quads and now find myself with a pilot! I look forward to riding with some of you in the near future!!

2. I've considered getting into racing and the logical choice for me is the pilot. Is there any organized/informal racing seriers within driving distance of SE PA? Is it possible to race at any level without dumping thousands into a pilot?

Thanks to the moderators/owners of the site for all their had work and great information!

Joshua L. Detweiler

Howdy. I'm Dave C. The closest actual racing to you that I know of is Spring Valley in easter Ohio. Millport, OH, 30 miles or so south of Salem. They don't charge a arm and a leg, either. They have 2 more this year. Sept 26 and Oct 10.

Their web site http://www.noora.freewebtools.com/index.html

There should be plenty of riders over your way to race through the countryside on trail rides!

Enjoy that Pilot. They are a special vehicle!

As far as cost, to be competitve at Spr Val, you need at least porting and a pipe. Don't let just anybody port it. Local guys can do good porting, but then, they can also screw it up. The air box mod doesn't cost much. Depending on if you do the assemby or have it done, $400-1000. A new drive clutch and big carb can be added over time.

Ody,

Thanks for the reply, I should be okay to do it. I have the airbox mod done already, I have a rev pipe installed as well as a Comet 102 clutch. I may try to make it to one of the races this year, but likely not till next. I was hoping to find something closer but I guess I'll have to drive a bit.

Thanks for the great advice

Josh

Tsutton,

I wish I could, but I promised my little brother some help on his car that weekend. I should be able to make the next ride, I hope.
