Anyone ever been to Ballinger Canyon OHV Area?

This is an area I used to ride back in the late eighties. It used to get hardly any use at all. I believe by the link it is still open. Definitely a place worth a day trip for anyone in the southern / central California area.

This is the place I managed to break my leg riding at a hole 10 mph putting in second gear on my YZ125! It's also the place were I rode my FL250 for the last time before I got out of the Odyssey scene.

Yeah it should be moved to the riding areas forum.

As far as rider planet goes I've used it quite often. This is a site I stumbled upon today and it has a nice trail finder function. Just pop in a zip code and select the distance you want to travel and Bob's your Uncle!

As I mentioned before I broke my leg there riding my YZ125 and it was also there that I rode my FL250 the last time before I moved to Nevada in 1991.

Its a pretty hilly area that has quite a few roads and fairly wide trails cut through it. I have been there on probably 10 to 15 day trips. If you don't mind exploring the same trail twice, one could spend a weekend there. From what I remember there were a few single track trails that cut up and over some of the sharp ridges but these can be avoided by simply riding around the mountain peaks. I remember riding my LT250 quad racer there and trail were wide with no restrictions.

Thanks Hoser,

Rand
