Post subject:  "hoser Enhanced Hood"

Here is another performance modification I am working on, its technically
advanced, space age aero dynamic design that will hopefully give us a compelling,
phenomenal advancement in keeping the dust out of our faces, they are made
out of space age materials (aluminum) bent using the latest high tech ultra precise
metal forming equipment resulting in a phenomenal, outstanding quality high tech
advancement in Pilot technology. Can you say "Revolutionary" or "scientific break through" :-)

I started out with a prototype, its made out of a plastic coated with a layer of aluminum
(space age polymers and adhesives) it is similar to the hood Dave Sifka (spelling) makes,
his is a good setup but I wanted something a little different, I wanted it made from
a thiner material, cant see carrying around that extra weight, I also wanted a lip
at the top bent up to divert the air and dust out of my face.

Here it is after I spent some time sanding it on one direction to give it that
provides the phenomenal, technically advanced, compelling, optimum surface
that looks like brushed aluminum.

In the future I will get some better pictures taken outside in better lighting then post I
will also have someone with a "fat ass" to set on it to prove it still has the required
strength otherswonder about and will not flop around loosely like other manufactures
bumpers and stuff.

Here are the other 3 I made, one for my wifes Pilot, one for Lightspeed's Pilot
and one for Stoneman's Pilot

Looks great (don't forget the one for Pilotnut's Pilot...)

Post subject:  Nice!

How about chrome or gold plating?

Do you have any specs on the new and improved drag coefficient that these are sure to provide?

HAH I see you let me out on this one!

DOH!

That might take a while, well a few weeks, I gotta get another sheet of metal,
you probably need some bottom side protection for the ECJ and need one of these
too ?

You can plate, paint, polish, sand do what ever you want do with it heh
I will probably end up sand blasting, acid wash then painting mine red
in the future...

Still testing the thing, so far the drag don't seem to slow me down one bit.

nice job hoser, now all i have to do is get a pilot

Looks very nice.

With the Hoser enhancements done to the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) the only thing slowing me down was the non-aerodynamic shape of my pilot. I was just getting ready to send my pilot to NASA to make it capeable of the normal "litespeed speeds" of which I am accustomed to! Now thanks to your new hood I can save the thousands of dollars I would have had to pay NASA in development fees.

Thank you Hoser.

I can wait on the hood but I'd REALLY like a belly skid (long version) if you have any of them laying around - the terrain up here in the northeast really beats the heck out of the underbelly...

The only long version I have is the used one you see in the picture, if there is enough
intrest I can buy another sheet of metal and make more. I do have 2 of the short
versions already made up and ready to go.

By "long version" I mean one that covers from the front of the frame and extends back to about where the forward seat mounts are located.

In addition to the extra protection, this extra skid length also helps keep the back of your legs dry. Anyone who keeps their Pilot seat in the fully extended position (all the way to the rear of the adjusters) will notice that this creates two pretty large openings between the front of the seat and the beginning of the floor tub. These gaps allow quite a bit of mud/water to enter the seat area when hitting mud/water holes at speed.

Bring whatever you have to ECJ - If I can't use it, I'm sure you'll have no problem finding takers.

I don't make one that long, water splash has never been a problem with me so I never
gave it much thought, I know you like the mud as much as Stoneman hehe, what did
I do with that pic of you, your Pilot covered in mud and your beat red eyes heh

Mike123 spoke up first for the hood and wants it ASAP so he has it
for the ECJ ride, I took some more pics Mike.

The 2 brackets bolt on using the tub mounting locations, my rubber mat has been removed
to allow me more leg room http://pilotodyssey.com/6feet.htm you might have to remove yours part
way to allow you access, to remove the rubber mat its easy, from the front side of the tub
wet the rubber teets sticking through the tub then push them back through the tub, I made
brackets with a little adjustablity since every Pilot and its plastic will not be the same,
you can shim the height with flat washers between the hood and bracket if required
(blue arrows)

Again the fitup might vary so you might have to shim, I did not shim the front of mine
for the pics, at the top you can see the wrap around clamp and how you fasten it to
the frame.

Redrider came up with the same thing a while back. Here is a copy of the hood he made for me. It is made out of 1/8" lexan and bound to be lighter than the aluminum.

Yep looks good, you can paint them from the bottom side also, not
sure what you need to make it stick...

The Wheelman Pilot had a hood made from clear plastic.
