Good eye, I added that grease zerk years ago when I changed the bearings, the barrings are sealed both sides the grease is to fill the void inside so moisture cant get in, works well only problem is it tries to push out the seals if you do it I suggest you drill a 1/8" hole in one of the seals then pump it up with grease until it comes out the hole and the air is gone then clean up and degrease the seal around the hole good and seal the hole with silicone sealer then in the future you can grease again if you feel it needs it and only have to fix the silicone plug again, next time I change the bearings on the other axle I will do the same mod to it.
