Got a pipe for a 90's ? 440 MXZ sled that is two into one, the manifold was a perfect fit on my Engine, the body of the pipe is another story it is not even close, the rusted pipe needs to take on the shape of the silver pipe shown in the picture below in order to fit the Pilot

The first step will be to cut off the ball connection as high up on the manifold as I can get it, it looks like I can go up about 2" this will raise the ground clearance by 2" and give me 2" more pipe going to the right to help with the offset, I made a paper 90 degree elbow I am not sure if the radius is too tight I am awaiting advice from others that are more into pipe building.

Correct all production machines have stamped steel pipes to cut production cost, there is a huge amount of time involved in making a cone pipe, that pipe is a pipe off a 440 MXZ sled, a production unit, the guy I got it from said in his dyno testing on the same Engine as mine only with the newer power valve cylinders it made 90 hp. The pipe wont fit so I will probably end up making a cone pipe using this stamped factory pipe to get my measurements off of, I don't see me cutting and turning the stamped pipe all the times it needs cut, the main body of the pipe also needs angled, I might be able to use the back half of the taper cone part, until I fabricate that first elbow and relocate the ball joint I really wont know... |

I started to blue print the stamped pipe, diameter measurment every 1" of the length of the pipe, I will have to add in the lenght of the 90 I will fabricate and remove that length from the pipe.

I don't know, I put high temp silicone on all the joints so will start testing and adjusting tomorrow, once I know pipe will be ok I will start on gas tank, relocate battery and air box. |

Yeah baby that sucker really hauls ASS now... my billy bob pipe was really holding this thing back. Time to move the radiator so I can fabricate a gas tank and find a new home for the battery... |

On your 440 project did you use the same cluth system that came with the sled Engine or did you have to use the original type that came with your odyssey so the belt would fit the dirve box? I am doing the same thing to my odyssey. I came across a 440 polaris snowmobile Engine and I just want to see how you ended up hooking every thing up. |

Sinced you used the same clutch and dirven pully from your pilot, do you think the set up off of the FL250 would fit on a 440cc polaris Engine and work correctly? Or do you think I should try something different, like maybe the set up off of a Pilot like your system. That is if the clutch and dirven pulley would fit on my new Engine and the gear reduction case of my 250. Do you have any other suggestions? |

You would not want to use the stock Honda drive clutch the driven would probably be ok if it is in good condition and adjusted for the belt width of what ever drive clutch you choose to use. |

Hey Hoser, Thanks for all the advice on my project. This type of clutch system is kind of new to me. Is there a web site that shows more information on exactly how this clutch system works, and how driven pully can be adjusted for different belts? Thanks again for your help. By the way, how fast does you pilot go with the 440cc Engine you put on it? |
