Post subject:  Ridgid tube cutter mod.

I've got/was a broken garden hose watering wand. The long alu tube wand section had cracked and was gonna be scrapped. Then I wanted to see if I could save it by replicating the O ring groove in the shortened end?
So I got my Ridgid  out, removed the sharp edg
ed wheel and made up another with a rounded profile for the O ring seal.
It worked on the alu tube then tried copper and steel.
All worked well and thought it could also be used in some buggy applications maybe?
The bigger the Ridgid the bigger tube can be press rolled.
New wheel stores in handle end by holding screw

New press wheel stores in handle end
You could also make different profile shapes in wheel edge for custom applications?

Good idea I didn't know you could get a radius wheel for the cut wheel Might have to look into that, I have a Ridgid tubing cutter about 5x bigger than the one in your picture. I think it was designed to cut 1" steel tubing. I have cut and threaded 1" steel gas pipe with it in the past. Its dads old one, probably 50+ years old.

The radius wheel was my idea and made from scrap steel plate.
The thickness and hole size is critical to avoid any wobble.
I don't think they have anything else except the cutting wheel.
This Ridgid is also my dad's ol one too. :-)

I have a lathe so making my own will not be a problem. I think I still have some 4130 laying around too.
