Parts needed so far Updated 9-20-01 Those of you that went to the Little Sahara spring trip may have noticed that Wheelman's Pilot engine came to a screeching halt out on the dunes and needed to be towed in....... Roberts trip was cut short since he uses modified hand controls to drive his Pilot he just couldn't simply jump into my basket case and go riding again. After talking to "Wet Willy" about why Robert was going home early and not riding any more he came up with the idea that the Pilot-Odyssey group take up a collection to help get Wheelman's Pilot back up and running again, so the idea was born, as soon as I got home I fired off a email to Wheelman asking if he would mind me making the repairs on his Pilot, then cam the problem of getting his Pilot to me, he lives in Mobile Al. and I live in northern Illinois, we came to agreement that it would be best to meet at Coal Creek where I could pick up his Pilot and take it back to my place for a good going over, the engine is not the thing that needs attention, Robert uses a modified bicycle handle bars and hand brake levers to actuate his Pilot brakes. Wile at Coal Creek Moskito and I had a chance to talk about modifying his braking system and using a hydraulic brake assembly from a dirt bike so we can eliminate the cable controls that keep binding up. On the long ride home from Coal Creek (11 hr drive) I had plenty of time to think about Roberts Pilot and why the engine took a dump, was it bad fuel, don't think so he burned a few tanks of fresh gas before it quit running, was it rust from sitting in the constant humidity that you encounter living in Mobile Alabama? was the octane too low and it detonate it self to death I guess I will have to wait until I do the autopsy......
